  • How does DanceVacay work?
DanceVacay helps on two levels: 1. DanceVacay arranges your dance passes for classes at the best studios with renown instructors. Take their regular classes, or DanceVacay can also organize extra group classes with instructors to cater to the level and timing of the DanceVacay group and open it up to the locals, so you can interact, make friends and learn about the culture of the country. 2. Facilitating lodging in paid rooms in the homes of people related to the community, hotels and the best hostels as convenient locations as possible in relation to the dance studios. Note that anything outside of your dance experience and lodging is up to you: airline tickets, transportation, sightseeing. You are free to choose! Upcoming Events Paris: an invite-only trip for intensive classes with the best in UrbanKiz. Saturday, 26 August - Sunday, 3 September 2023. Florida: November, Tango-UrbanKiz workshop in the Tampa Bay area. Portugal: TBD a slew of classes from Salsa, Bachata, Semba and Kizomba in the heart of Lisbon and easily accessible social nights. Puerto Rico: November, Salsa intensives in one of the Caribbean islands whose musicians helped create what is known today as Salsa! Buenos Aires: March, Tango intensives Follow the DanceVacay Facebook page to find out about weekenders, workshops and dance intensives in the U.S. You can pay through the DanceVacay Eventbrite page. Decently priced hotel rooms are very difficult to reserve in Miami Beach, so we suggest you book the ones that DanceVacay sets aside in advance for these events. The philosophy behind DanceVacay is that there is no substitute for going to the source to learn from the best instructors by taking regular classes. Short weekenders, workshops and congresses are enormously fun and you definitely can pick up little tricks, but for sustained improvement, and a deeper understanding of the dance you love, consistent classes with top instructors is crucial. The DanceVacay owner has gone to various cities to do exactly this and stays for minimum 3 weeks, working remotely for freelance clients meanwhile taking intensive classes around the world. DanceVacay helps organize inexpensive lodging, take cost-effective classes, access top instructors in their home cities where they teach regular classes for a week, two weeks or more. Any dancer who wishes to join is welcome, but note that the pre-arranged classes are intermediate-level, not suitable for beginners. If you'd like beginner classes, DanceVacay can also direct you to beginner-level classes. Taking regular classes in your home city is key to growth, and a DanceVacay to learn the culture and to get the individualized attention from top instructors is key to seeing big improvement in an intensive period of time.
  • How hard is it to work remotely in another country?
This mostly depends on you and the quality of the internet in the country you are visiting. 1. Fundamentals: check if you need to apply for a visa to the country you are visiting first. 2. Your personality: are you at least somewhat disciplined and can focus while you're in another country? Some might not be able to resist the temptation to ditch work and go touristing around a city. However, if you are patient and focused when abroad, then working remotely really works for you. 3. Internet: most developed or even developing countries have stable internet, especially in their larger cities. The lodging that DanceVacay chooses always have reliable internet, so working from abroad shouldn't be a problem. Check with your work / clients if you will need to set up a VPN beforehand. 4. Time Zones: You can request your company or clients for permission for you to start an hour or two later or before to accommodate your time zone as you travel. Transparency is a very good policy with your colleagues. Work from home is now much more accepted, and as long as you are responsible, stay very well connected with your team and resolve issues as soon as possible, most people will really appreciate your professionalism and might even look up to you for your ability to have your cake and eat it too. I always also look for ways to delight my clients and supervisor while I'm out. 5. Plan B if your company / clients have proven to be uncomfortable with remote work: You can simply not state where you are, if it's not in your contract that you must be phyiscally in a certain time zone, and you'll just have to shift your hours while you're working away from home. Note that jetlag is real and usually keeps your circadian rhythm on your "home" time zone for about a week, if not two. This is actually an advantage in the case you actually have to work the exact office hours. 6. Check out the map for digital nomads. It includes coworking spaces and cafés that are conducive for remote working!
